Description
Essex Carpet Clash Practice Day
Held at Brentwood School Sports Centre.
The track will be laid out on carpet 30m x 18m, with jumps, bumps and corners to make for a fun day of racing. Door will open at 8am with a drivers briefing happening at 8.30am followed by a practice for all shortly after. The practice is for you to get an idea of the track, but mainly to make sure your PT is working and counting for your team, (you will be asked to go over the loop one at a time before starting your practice).
Now the details….
The Christmas Team Endurance Race event will be ONE 6 HOUR race, where you race in your team!
Teams
5-10 drivers, each using their own car in the team race and their own PT.
2WD Only
This is a 2wd only event.
Marshalling
One of the team members MUST be marshalling at all times, and it is to be ‘release marshalling’ with your team mates, so all points are covered . Failure will end in a penalty.
Pit Crew
You can only have 1 team member as a pit crew in the “pit area” (in the rostrum area) to carry out tyre changes and car swap.
Only your driving team are allowed to be pit men, no additional help, eg, marshalling/tyre men, runners from others not racing.
You can only have 1 car with rear tyres on at any time! If you are changing from your 1st set to your 2nd set of tyre, you must 1st take all tyres off before putting the next set on.
Driver Change Over
Only 1 team member can be on the rostrum at any time. No queuing up behind your team mate for the change over. The driver coming off MUST be off the rostrum before the next team member is to enter.
No one can have more than 1 outing more than the rest of the team. You are a team, and all are included, so we want all to have a fair amount of outings and time on track.
One way on and off the rostrum and around the pit lane. This is so the whole day flows easier. In the moment, there may be people rushing about, so at least if everyone is moving in the same direction, accidents should be to a minimum.
Stint Duration
In todays world of high capacity lipos it could be possible to be out for 10-15mins. But as most racers now use LCG batteries, and we don’t want people buying specialist equipment for this ONE race, we are not limiting time BUT asking all to be mindful and careful about the length of time the driver can be circulating for. We don’t want people un-necessary spending more money buying larger lipos and motors for this one meeting, but want to prevent you from doing damage to your LiPo by hitting cut off and the possibility of causing a health and safety issue with LiPo fires. This rule is in place for all races and must be adhered to. On the day you may wish to bring a stop watch, or use your phones!?… From previous years, 7 minutes seems to be fair, with motors and wires not coming off too bad.
For a team of 5 drivers that about 10-12 stints for the duration!!!
Broken car
If you break on track you must wait for the marshal to return the car to the pit area. We don’t want anyone running out on track to retrieve their team member’s car.
Trye Blowouts
There is a possibility of tyre failure! We are pushing the limits of these tyres at the end of the day. In this case, you will be allowed to replace ‘the failed’ tyre/wheel, with another. You will need to seek permission from an EssexCarpetClash crew member and have them marked before using them.
Lapping
Although this is a race, there will be no call through for lead cars. You must be patient and pass when the opportunity presents itself and work with each other on track to let the fast car through. Pit Crew can communicate with their driver on rostrum to let them know if they are racing with a car for position.
Each team will have their PT checked that it is counting, this will take place during practice! We can not add or alter any PT numbers once the race has started! (do you have another spare PT to cross the line as a back up?)
It is yours and your teams responsibility that you are being counted, (so listen for the beeps and check that your team car counted under your team!).
No missed laps will be added, and no laps from unknown PT numbers will be added. Only the registered PT numbers checked at the beginning will be accepted and counted for the race. What the computer states, goes…
The Race
The Endurance race is for 6 hours for your team to do as many laps as you possibly can. The catch will be within your team you have to use the only 2 sets of rears*** between you all… that’s right… no added sets! 1 set of yellow cactus and 1 set of yellow Azarmi rears which means your pit crew will have to be on their A game to keep the time loss to a minimum. Fronts are open and you can use as many or as few as you would like.
(***TBC due to the time of this race and potential extreme tyre ware, tyres may be introduced/allowed. Please see Tyre Blowout paragraph above.)*Tyre scrutinising/marking will take place before the race*
*rules may be amended at any time where necessary*
Joker Time (***TBC***)
This is a section of time where the team has a certain thing to do per lap, adding a different dimension and edge to the event!
E.g. added track section, forfeit track section, funny tyres… (just some of the ideas…)
***this is to be confirmed at a later date***
This meeting can only go ahead subject to minimum number of participating teams. Team booking in will close the end of the last week in November, where we will review entries and confirm if the team endurance meeting will proceed, or another “fun, more traditional” race format will go ahead in its place… if this is the case, drivers will be entered into this meeting, but additional fees may be required as the event changes from a team to an individual meeting.
Run to BRCA general rules.
